I was born and raised in the vicinity of Syracuse, New York. Attended grades 1-4 of elementary school at St. Patrick's Catholic School. Our family moved out to the town of Camillus, NY when I was ten. I attended Stonehedge Elementary School and the West Genesee Junior and Senior High Schools. I graduated from high school in 1975, then moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend DeVry Institute of Technology It was called Ohio Institute of Technology (OIT) back then.

I met my wife, Mary Beth, at OIT. We were married in June of 1979 and have two children: Jessica and Bryan.

Also, in June 1979, I started working for Bell Telephone Laboratories (part of the AT&T Bell System) in Columbus, doing software development with the UNIX operating system using the C programming language. My place of work became Lucent Technologies after AT&T split up in 1996 and I continued to work there doing software platform development using C and C++ with UNIX and Windows NT.

In March of 2001 I left Lucent to take a job with CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) where I continue to do UNIX-based software development work with C++. Here is my resume.

I am a part-time student at Ashland Theological Seminary where I'm working on an MA in Practical Theology with a major in Spiritual Formation.
